Messy vs Precision Eyebrow Tinting

Messy vs Precision Eyebrow Tinting

What is Tinting?

Tinting the hair is the traditional way to add depth to the brows and lashes. It provides a softer and more natural effect in comparison to a stain. It really only targets the hair as opposed to grabbing to the skin, although some methods may leave a subtle stain. Tinting the hair only has a temporary result, as it can only penetrate as far as the cuticle due to its molecular size. It is great to offer both a tinting and a stain service. The tint will offer a fluffier and more natural result, and the stain will offer a more dramatic, defined and sleek result. It may be that you differ between these options depending on what the client requests at the time.

Tinting is a lot more user-friendly and less complicated due to its simple colour theory. It is a lot more forgiving. Tinting can be applied in one of two ways: a precision tint, or a messy tint. If you want to create a more sleek and slightly more dramatic effect, you can use a similar technique to how you would apply the stain. If you only want to create a soft haze of colour through the hairs, you can use a messy technique whereby you brush the tint through the hairs and remove it with haste.

Perfect your client's natural eyebrows by using the Buff Browz Tint to increase the shade of the hair and leave a subtle stain on the skin to increase the density and carve the eyebrows. Our beautifully composed tint will condition your client's hair and will make the hair appear healthier by adding shine. The usage of our tint can be tailored and adjusted in order to achieve a subtle finish or a more dramatic result.

Clean the area and ensure that there is absolutely no trace of any makeup, product or sebum by using Purify and Detox.

1. Gently massage the Brow Polish into the skin to remove any dead skin.

2. Rinse the brows and use Detox to cleanse the skin and the hairs once more.

3. Mix your solution using a disposable brush. Our tint mixes at a 1:1 ratio with our 3% Developer

4. Apply the mixture using either a ‘precision tint’ technique or a ‘messy tint’ application.

5. Leave to develop for up to 10 minutes, depending on how deep your client wants the shade. 10 minutes will provide the deepest shade. If the brows have been laminated, a much shorter developing time should be used as the cuticle is already raised, and the colour will become dark very quickly.

6. Remove the tint with a cotton pad that is damp with a tint remover to stop the developing process. If you want to achieve a stain on the skin to create a more defined shape and to make the brows appear fuller, you are best off opting for a lighter shade of tint and leaving it on for longer. If you are looking to create a stain, we would recommend using a precision tint application.

Precision Tint vs Messy Tint

PRECISION TINT: Best for a sharp and more defined brow. You can map the eyebrows using the Definer Pen and use the preferred Brushes I or II to STAMP the tint into the hairs for ultimate precision. You may want to apply the tint later to the front of the eyebrows to achieve an ombre effect or remove it sooner at the front… whatever suits you best!

MESSY TINT: Best for a fluffier and softer result. Simply brush your creamy tint into the hairs with a silicone spooly. Use a cotton bud to carve around the brows to remove any excess product, and continue to brush the product through the hairs to ensure a thorough application.
